The shares broke higher to 250p after online hostels booking website Hostelworld announced a modest (3%) beat to FY’18 EBITDA forecasts. These were Eu21.4m, down from Eu26.4m in FY’17, on sales that fell from Eu86.7m to 82.1m. Eps were 17.5 cents.Hostelworld is consolidating following a change in strategy and it now offers bookings with free cancellation in order to be more competitive. But that means it cannot recognise bookings in the same year as incurred, resulting in Eu2.9m of deferred income moving to the following year.
