In spite of the precipitous fall in energy prices, Hunting, the provider of oil well precision engineering products nevertheless increased pretax profit and eps 8% and 6% respectively to US$212.4m and 100 cents, although it was forced to take a US$58m impairment charge.Well construction, which supplies steel locking threads to connect sections of steel together, saw a 10% reduction in profit to £53m. Well completion, which supplies connections, joints, and couplings to make the drill hole ready for production, grew profit 13% to almost US$141m on turnover up 8% at US$863m. The smaller well intervention side, which provides maintenance, pumping and work-overs to rejuvenate old wells, proved the most resilient with profit ahead ...
