A terrific month for the shares, which spiked  130p to a new high of 748p after Auto Trader announced half year results ahead of expectations. The Covid-19 driven switch from public transport to roads plus the shortage of chips for new cars has clearly played into its hands with frustrated would-be buyers switching to nearly new cars, which in turn has increased demand to advertise on Auto Trader’s website by motor dealers. Total retailer  forecourts using its services increased 6% to 13,892 while average revenue per retailer jumped 13% to £2,199 and even the reduction of physical stock (due to the vehicle shortages) couldn’t ruin Auto Trader’s parade.
