Since the start of 2012 a monkey throwing random darts at the quoted housebuilding sector could hardly fail to make serious money as first QE and Government support schemes, followed by rising employment and cheaper mortgages have combined to send shares into orbit. At various stages we’ve tipped Barratts (BDEV, 621p), Berkeley Homes (BKG, 3224p) and Persimmon (PSN, 1954p) but the only one entering our TMI Trader Portfolio has been Crest Nicholson, which focuses on the buoyant southern region, where incomes and jobs have risen faster than elsewhere.While Crest’s shares have nearly doubled since our original recommendation at 275p in April ‘13, we believe there’s a lot more to come following the Tories shock ...
