Luceco surprised investors by noting that due to gross margin weakness, profit after tax will be £3.5m lower than market expectations of £16.7m. The gross margin weakness was caused by a strengthening of the Chinese RMB versus the US$, alongside weakness in sterling and increased raw materials, particularly copper.
