Hostelworld - Acquires OccasionGenius

Hostelworld has announced the acquisition of OccasionGenius Inc for US$12m. OccasionGenius aggregates event information (such as concerts, shows and food markets, from national ticketing sites such as TicketMaster and Eventbrite) and enhances it with curated descriptions. This is delivered in the form of an API to clients that include hotels, airlines and dating sites. Its content currently offers 300 cities and once fully integrated onto Hostelworld’s platform, it is expected to increase growth in social members, bookings and Social Network revenues.
