The dire outlook for the UK economy has apparently been confirmed by industry statistics for the first quarter of this year, which showed a 30% increase in corporate insolvencies. However, it's often the case that one company's pain is another one's gain and an obvious beneficiary is Begbies Traynor (FT sector: AIM, Support Services), a UK-based firm whose largest activity is the provision of business insolvency services. Begbies recently issued its final results for the year to 30 April, which confirmed that following a quiet start it enjoyed double digit growth in the second half.
