After an initially muted reaction, Helios Towers’ shares have awakened with a surge, rewarding investors for a quarter of operational excellence and disciplined financial management. The company, which owns and operates a sprawling estate of telecom towers across Africa, has been quietly stacking wins. In Q2, Helios added 543 new tenancies, comfortably exceeding expectations of 479, while the total number of tenancies grew 7% to 30,617 for the first half of the year. Even more impressive, the tenancy ratio - the number of tenants per tower - climbed to 2.11x, signalling that Helios is squeezing every last drop of value from its assets.
