Elementis is a specialty chemicals company that supplies performance additives to the personal care and coatings industries. Latest results were in line with expectations. Operating profit rose 4.6% to US$126.7m, driving the operating margin to a record 21.2%. Strong free cash flow meant that even after spending US$22m on the November acquisition of Alchemy, offset by an US$11m disposal and US$54m of share buybacks, net debt only increased modestly by US$28m to US$185m (1.25x leverage). The standout performer was the Personal Care division, which supplies additives for colour cosmetics, skincare and antiperspirants.
