Everything went well for Indonesia palm oil grower MP Evans in 2024 and it enjoyed a record year with EPS up 64% to 161.6 cents. During the period it processed 1,608,000 tonnes of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), just 1% below 2023’s level, a good performance compared to Indonesia as a whole, which was well down, due to bad weather. But the big story was the rise in crude palm oil (CPO) prices with the company achieving average mill-gate prices of US$823/tonne (FY23: US$729/tonne). Gross margins lifted off from 25.5% to 33%. Post US$21.6m capex, MP Evans generated free cash flow of almost US$115m, funding dividends (US$35.6m) and share buy-backs (13.4m), leaving it with net cash of US$46.4m from US$15m a year ago.
