GB’s record acquisition of Acuant in November 2021 for US$736m (£553m) has provided significant exposure to the US but the flipside is nervous sentiment given fears surrounding second order effects from Trump’s tariffs, i.e. price rises lowering consumer demand, affecting GB’s retail customers. The recent weakness came following a virtually blameless trading update; full year revenues are expected to be up 3% to £283m and operating profit of c £67m is 2% ahead of forecast. Even better, net debt of £48.5m was £5.5m lower than forecast, down a massive £32m year-on-year and less than half the £106m two years ago.
