Franchise Brands has delivered a record Q1, with system sales growth accelerating to 4%. Not bad at all in this environment. The macro remains a persistent drag but this business benefits from a rare and valuable layer of cyclical insulation. Its B2B offerings - drainage, pumps and commercial kitchen maintenance - are essential and reactive services that customers simply can’t put off for long. Filta (on-site micro-filtration of cooking oil, professional fryer cleaning and waste oil collection) continues to do well. North American operations delivered a solid 12% increase in system sales (local currency), driven by a very strong 35% jump in used cooking oil sales as both volumes and pricing moved favourably.
