Having touched almost 5400p in June before pulling back, shares in meat processor Cranswick have risen again following interims showing revenues ahead 10.4% (+7.9% like-for-like) to £1.47bn. Both pretax profit and eps rose nearly 10% to £105.1m and 144.4p, respectively. Cranswick supplies major supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsburys, M&S and the discounters like Lidl and thanks to its focus on investment and quality, this gives it the flexibility to side step the annual price pressure imposed by supermarkets. For instance, Fresh Pork (23% sales) grew 5% with volumes ahead over 4% across retail, wholesale and export channels.
