Having touched a high last May of almost £16, the shares have pulled back alongside other defence peers on concerns a potential Ukraine ceasefire would dampen future demand. However, I, for one, don’t believe defence spend will be reduced given Russia’s bellicose behaviour towards “the West.” Nevertheless, Cohort shrugged this off with interims in line with expectations. Sales rose 9% to £129m while operating profit fell 4.3% to £9.7m. Communications & Intelligence increased operating profit 23% to £10.4m thanks to a strong maiden contribution from EM Solutions and stronger performances at MASS and EID, offsetting the drop-out of some non-repeating orders from MCL.
