One of the better performing new issues this year has been SSP, which operates nearly 2,000 food service outlets, trading as Upper Crust and Café Ritazza, in railway stations and airports predominantly in the UK and Europe. The shares, which floated at 210p on the main market, recently soared to a new high of 290p as the company shrugged off lingering fears that ebola might hurt passenger traffic and posted full year results slightly ahead of expectations.Founded in 1961, SSP was originally part of catering services giant Compass and was built up in the 90s via several acquisitions including SAS Catering and well-known railway brand Traveller’s Fare.
